Film Magazine Progress

In order for my film magazine to turn out the best it could I followed my draft as best as possible. To begin with I created my header and footer bars and imputed the text. I felt that white bold font looks best on a black background and the yellow of "best" makes it stand out on the page which will catch the audience's eyes. I then created my masthead which I had decided was going to be called "REELMAG" I decided to separate the reel and mag using red and black as I felt it suited it and looked good on the page. With the first steps of creating my magazine
I filled in all my sell lines varying the fonts and sizes to ensure that there was variety on the page and that it was still eye catching for the reader. I also added a barcode and price as this is a vital piece of detail that is needed to be on a magazine which ensures that it reflects a real product. I also placed the pug at the top right of the page in bold yellow as again it stand out on the page. I have also added a multi media platform of the website of the magazine.

Here I have added my main image to my magazine. I chose this image because it shows the main character Morgan looking depressed with the mask in his hand showing that there is some connections between the pair. I decided to edit the picture and make it black and white to show depression of the character and the darkness that the mask holds. I also decided to put the background of the magazine as grey as it blends in better than if it was harsh and white.

The final part of my magazine was that I had to add the film title to the page and I also added "Reel Exclusive" in red text on a black background as this stood out on the page and it shows that it is exclusive to this magazine only.

This is my final cover magazine. When I received audience feedback I realised that the colour of my magazine was very grey and therefore I needed to improve this. The audience also pointed out that the image should be more central to the page and should take up more of the page than what it does. They also said that the page was a bit wordy so I should cut down the amount of text on the page so that there is more focus on the image. I also changed the colour of the font of the sell lines to make them stand out more on the page. With these changes made I feel that my overall film magazine looks good as it follows the codes and conventions of real media products.

Audience Mood Board & Mental Health Research & Film Title

This is the audience mood board. Here are all the things that our target audience will enjoy doing/ aspire to do such as perhaps getting into a relationship, going to university, to go travelling. The target audience will also enjoy listening to music, going to theme parks, watching films, playing football, playing on the xbox, watching Netflix, attending music festivals, using their phones and going on social media.

This is the film title that we will use on our trailer. I decided that out of all the ones I created this one was the best as it has the emphasis on the word "elude" as well as it looking different and eye catching due to the letters being alternative sizes.

Film Classification And Psychological Thriller Genre Research

The BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) is a non-governmental organization. It is responsible for the national classification and censorship of films on DVD, the cinema and other media works that need classification. The BBFC examines age ratings for films and videos before they are released in order to protect the public from harmful content. The BBFC are able to cut scenes out of films if they feel that it is not suitable for the age rating. The BBFC provide age ratings and to reach this age rating the examiner watches the entire film and then apply the BBFC standards and criteria in their Classification Guidelines.
The age rating and what they mean are stated above in the picture.

Questionnaire for target audience

To make sure that our group trailer attracts our target audience we have created a questionnaire in order to find out more information to make sure we understand what our target audience would like to see in a film trailer.

These are the results from the target audience questionnaire.

Magazine Cover Drafts

For my first dratf of my magazine I chose the masthead "Release" as the magazine would contain all the new releases of films so I thought it worked well. I chose to do the masthead in red font as it stands out on the page and catches the reader's eye. I have included a header bar and footer bar as again the information there grabs the readers attention. I have included a pug to also appeal to the audience. I have include an issue number, price, barcode and date to follow the codes and conventions of a magazine. The main image of my magazine is of the main character within the film, although I feel now that it is not very eye catching and for my real magazine I will have a more interesting picture. I have also followed the codes and conventions of using sell lines on my magazine which reveal further of what other stories will be in the magazine. My splash includes the name of the film Deluded in bold letters to make it stand out on the page also. Overall I am happy with this draft of my magazine although I know there are changes needed to make it even better for my real magazine.
These are my 2 drafts of my film magazine covers.
